I think the original scheme was a step in the right direction, but not enough. Still too much colour for fighters actually trying to survive combat.<br />
Here is the revised Guardian (you probably won't notice too many changes)<br />
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/qcwl0lUNck9WsDdvc0dXeQ?authkey=Gv1sRgCJT2t-qw7qGOZg&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/S7LuTcQM2AI/AAAAAAAACJs/LCqi2xmnjgo/s400/Guardian.jpg" /></a><br />
And the revised Dire Avenger. There are many changes here.<br />
I'm still not 100% on this, so we'll see how it goes...<br />

I'm just taking a quick break from some late night analysis for work and I'd throw out some thoughts on further directions.<br />
I've just ordered some Army Painter Strong Tone, and I'm thinking that my eldar could be a good candidate for trying it out. As a result I'm going to dig them out of the "doll cupboard" (as my wife refers to it) and review where I got up to with assembly of the figures and models.<br />
I'm still keen to go with my uniform-style paint scheme.<br />
I'd have to say I agree with the sentiments <a href="http://www.40konline.com/community/index.php?PHPSESSID=a776577863b07f410054537f78e5b828&topic=172877.msg2106329#msg2106329">here (40konline)</a> regarding eldar army colours.<br />
<blockquote>GW seems to believe that Eldar warriors' armour is made out of rainbow-barf with the myriad of bright colours they plaster on them.</blockquote>MAYBE some updates after the Easter long weekend.ScannableGoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08818782495413989088noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5776980121623855264.post-54466111177038731782009-11-15T22:54:00.000-08:002009-11-15T23:06:55.375-08:00Hiatus...ishAs you can probably see, I got one post out on this blog and then haven't followed up.<br />The original intent was to use this for an Eldar army that I was painting.<br />However with a limited amount of time available, and a number of other projects on the go, this hasn't progressed at all.<br />There won't be any peronal hooby updates to this blog for a while; until I've got a bit more time from my <a href="http://tinymetalmen.blogspot.com/">15mm moderns projects</a>.<br />When I do come back to it, I'm also planning on putting up some 15mm sci-fi, probably using one of the following:<br /><ul><li>Ambush Alley's <a href="http://www.ambushalleygames.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=40">Tomorrow War </a>(yet to be released)</li><li><a href="http://www.blitzkrieg-commander.com/default.aspx?Area=FWC">Future War Commander</a></li><li><a href="http://www.groundzerogames.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=9&id=29&Itemid=50">Stargrunt II</a></li><li><a href="http://www.angelfire.com/az3/twohourwargames/5150.htm">5150</a> </li></ul><p>Just to keep things on the boil I may also post info I come across in the sci-fi space that I find exciting. There won't be any of my personal hobby stuff for a while, but I'll certainly be noting anything by others that catches my interest.</p>ScannableGoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08818782495413989088noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5776980121623855264.post-89953132059985203462009-01-08T19:18:00.000-08:002009-01-08T20:25:18.030-08:00A ConceptI have been away from Warhammer 40,000 for a very long time.<br />My gaming now is mainly WW2 and Moderns.<br />The contrast between the two genres probably speaks for itself - I have a lot of issues regarding "realism" in Warhammer 40,000. Realism in a sci-fi skirmish game?!? But that's a matter for another post (/rant?).<br /><br />Mainly thanks to my brother, I'm giving the game another go.<br /><br />So.... ......Eldar!<br /><br />I was impressed by a colour scheme for an eldar force that was created by the Games Workshop folks for the "Fall of Medusa V" Campaign. It took the traditional eldar colours and muted them to suit the landscape of the planet.<br />I've been doing a lot of desert schemes for my 15mm and 6mm, and the idea occurred to me that it would be nice to try something for an Eldar Army. The net result for the guardians is shown below.<br /><br /><br /><p align="center"><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ySjP1pP3-BLKmFUM-UXs4A?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x6zXJEPI/AAAAAAAABBQ/u_fEIQjav8Y/s288/Eldar%20Guardian%20Design.png" /></a></p><br /><br />Now here is the tricky part. My next idea was to look at the Dire Avengers. Rather than the traditional Aspect Armour scheme, I came up with the following.<br /><br /><br /><p align="center"><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/glfcye2V4ZgT1ApPlsZJ7A?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x3TzmzfI/AAAAAAAABBI/qZw1Dsa0iQo/s288/Dire%20Avenger%20Design.png" /></a></p><div align="left"><br /><br />In a similar vein we have Banshees (Skull White), Reapers (Chaos Black), Scorpions (Scorpion Green), and Dragons (Blazing Orange). </div><div align="center"><br /><br /><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/E9o1aIzIhyTA0cvuZOqp2w?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4xyn4Al5I/AAAAAAAABA8/jToW4w69jko/s288/Howling%20Banshee%20Design.png" /></a><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ipdtREOCFonE1mA9xmxekg?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x13NTgEI/AAAAAAAABBE/klCC2VIDH9Q/s288/Dark%20Reaper%20Design.png" /></a><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/2adkMw5wSjI39Q9bjd0zNg?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x8RGi4lI/AAAAAAAABBU/jQjskKzWKH8/s288/Striking%20Scorpion%20Design.png" /></a><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/_nLUHPWOHONqj4LhUwdYxw?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x-DWHoVI/AAAAAAAABBY/m1RahQjpGAs/s288/Fire%20Dragon%20Design.png" /></a><br /></div><div align="left"><br />I've also done Warlocks (and Farseers?) using Warlock Purple and Hawks using Hawk Turquoise. I'm less pleased with these outcomes, so there will need to be some further changes on these designs. </div><div align="center"><br /><br /><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/euzm8YR6iClheYDKOY5a3g?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x0DWf--I/AAAAAAAABBA/n8SrOhZeFc8/s288/Swooping%20Hawk%20Design.png" /></a><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/zVjFyF_2DYzgcxqWTsoNxg?authkey=ZhyHcw1N-xQ&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_e6J7qdCs4aY/SV4x5GdBX_I/AAAAAAAABBM/qJQbVUTrAbA/s288/Eldar%20Warlock%20Design.png" /></a><br /></div><div align="left"><br />Note that I'm not planning on using guardians for the aspect warriors, I've just used the <a href="http://www.games-workshop.com.au/games/40k/eldar/extras/painter/default.htm">online guardian painter</a> to pull together a rough example of the colour scheme. </div>ScannableGoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08818782495413989088noreply@blogger.com0
